ACCESS READS: AUSTRALIAN EXPERIENCE
Dr Joanna Anderson, a psychologist who has worked internationally including at the University of New England in NSW has teamed with Dr Chris Boyle (who is now assoc professor in inclusive education and psychology at the university of Exeter with previous positions at both University of New England & University of Monash in Australia) to publish this comprehensive paper on Inclusive Education in Australia.
Anderson and Boyle tackle a number of key areas in this paper including the need for a definition and comprehensive understanding of Inclusive Education as interpretation varies even across states.
Family Advocacy concur with the authors that inclusive education is not only about disability and since Australia adopted the philosophy of Inclusive Education two decades ago, current practices have not met the original intent of the Inclusive Education movement.
This paper was originally published in Support for Learning, Volume 30, No 1 (2015). Download the PDF here.
