ACCESS READS: TEACHER IMPACT
Greg Alchin is an award winning inclusive design consultant, author and educator with over 30 years experience across education, industry and government contexts. He enables organisations to be more inclusive by building awareness and capacity on how inclusive design inspires innovation.
In this paper Alchin explains that to move to an inclusive and proactive approach, education must begin from the point of recognising that learner variability is the norm, rather than the exception. Alchin goes on to advise how this thinking will move education away from reactive adjustments and instead design in flexibility.
Family Advocacy supports the claims that Alchin describes in this paper whereby this approach will more effectively bring schools into line with the aims of the Disability standards for education (2005) and the DDA (1992) enabling learners to participate in learning on the same basis from the start.
